What's in this template

Columns for line item, quantity, unit material cost, labor hours, labor rate, overhead, margin percent, and line total. A sample kitchen block is included so you can see the shape of a real bid.

Keep one master file per job. Duplicate the sheet when the customer asks for a second option.

The margin note in the file matters: target margin on sell price is not the same as adding the same percent as markup. Getting that wrong is how busy shops stay broke.

How to use it for your next job

1. List every cabinet or millwork piece as its own row.
2. Enter material cost and labor hours from your shop rates.
3. Add overhead as a dollar amount or allocate it across lines.
4. Set margin on the selling price—not a casual markup guess.
5. Export or copy totals into your proposal PDF.

Update unit costs before you send anything. An old plywood price in a “good” template is still a bad bid.

Where templates start to break down

Material price changes mean hunting cells. Revisions spawn version files named final-v3. Formatting the customer PDF is still manual.
